DANCING WITH THE STARS Landers does victory dance at Tumor Foundation benefit

— And the winner was ... Scott Landers, with the help of his fancy footwork along with his professional partner, Malarie Sharpe.

Landers captured the top spot as a competitor in Dancing With Our Stars, a benefit for the Arkansas chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation, on Sept. 16 at Chenal Country Club. Music was provided by Janet Gonyea, Denise Gregory and Bruce Donaldson.

Spectators took photos on the red carpet, sipped libations, enjoyed a gourmet dinner, bid on silent auction items and paid to vote for their favorite celebrity dancers, who were partnered with instructors from Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Other competitors, and their professional partners, were Leslie Godwin and Jeremiah DeLaVega; John Prentiss (winner of the People’s Choice award) and Alluria Torrez; Dr. Rolla Shbarou and Ray Sheridan; Christina Munoz and DeLaVega; and Jason Pederson and Lisa Sheridan.

Connie Oslica spoke of life as a father of children living with neurofibromatosis, commonly called NF. Ellie and Katie, teen NF Ambassadors of the Children’s Tumor Foundation, presented “Living with NF - A Teen’s perspective,” which consisted of a slide show documenting their trip to camp.

Highlighting the evening was an “Evolution of Dance” routine performed by event committee members. Craig O’Neill, master of ceremonies, joined in with a dance demonstration.

Committee members, sponsors and supporters in attendance included Lesley Oslica, Tonya Lambert, Cecelia and Dr. Dale Blasier, Beverly Milford, Lynne Bacon and Dr. Paul Phillips, Kara Wright, Darla Yarbrough, Julie Barnett, Joselyn Duvall, Sandy and Steve Landers, Sarah Henry, Brenda and Dr. Charles Glasier, Donna Nunn, Dr. Sarah and Brian Mulkey, Anne Austen, Vickie Glenn and Mandy Kelly.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a nonprofit medical foundation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by NF. Proceeds from Dancing WithOur Stars will help support the Neurocutaneous Clinic at Arkansas Children’s Hospital as well as the Arkansas chapter of the foundation.
