Politics of energy topic of LR talk

— The former head of Shell Oil Co. will deliver a lecture about the policy and politics of the American energy industry.

John Hofmeister, Shell Oil Co. president until 2008, now works for Citizens for Affordable Energy, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that he founded. The organization says it promotes an efficient, sustainable energy policy.

His speech will be Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at theUniversity of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service’s Sturgis Hall. Sturgis Hall, the former Choctaw Railway Station building on the Clinton Presidential Center grounds, is at 1200 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock.

Admission is free, and the general public may attend. Attendees can take lunch and the school will provide drinks. Reservations are available by e-mailing pub licprograms@clintonschool. uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
