Wonder Boys’ freshman honored

Arkansas Tech freshman quarterback Rico Keller was named offensive player of the week Monday by the Gulf South Conference.

Keller had his first career start Saturday as Arkansas Tech (2-2, 1-1) beat Arkansas-Monticello, 30-25.

Keller had 287 total yards, including 209 rushing yards, and 2 touchdowns.

Central Arkansas player gets mention

Central Arkansas (8-5, 5-0) hitter Chloe Smith was named offensive player of the week Monday by the Southland Conference. Smith had a season-best 22 kills Thursday against Sam Houston State, Central Arkansas’ 27th consecutive conference victory.

Southern Arkansas swept

Southern Arkansas (6-6) lost to East Central 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 Saturday in Ada, Okla. Southern Arkansas has suffered three consecutive shutouts. Jordan White had a match-high 12 kills.

Arkansas State loses in last minute

Arkansas State women’s soccer (4-5-1, 0-2) allowed a goal in the final minute of double overtime Sunday to lose 1-0 to Florida International in Jonesboro. Arkansas State was outshot 12-6.

Harding men, women win

Harding men’s soccer (1-5,1-1) beat Delta State 1-0 Sunday in Cleveland, Miss. Harding had not won a road game since 2008. Glen Stewart scored the goal.

Harding women (2-5-1, 2-0) beat Delta State 3-0. Harding has shut out Delta State the last two seasons. Hayley Withrow, Brianna Meek and Meghan Przeczewski scored for Harding. Goalkeeper Chelsea Hornbeck earned her 11th career shutout.

Hendrix loses in Conway

Hendrix men’s soccer (3-3, 0-2) lost to Southwestern (Texas) College 4-2 Sunday in Conway. Hendrix was outshot 18-7.

Ian Evans and Connor Silvestri scored for Hendrix, which will host Williams Baptist College today.

TENNIS

Arkansas player wins singles event

Arkansas freshman Jade Frampton won her singles flight of the Sooner Classic in Norman, Okla. on Sunday. Frampton won four consecutive matches in the event. She is 5-2 this season.
