Heifer to present paper on education

— The Heifer International Education Division concept paper titled “Creating a World of Citizen Engagement through Global Education” will be presented at the four day U.S. Summit and Initiative for Global Citizen Diplomacy in Washington, D.C., starting Nov. 16.

The paper was selected as a top program by the Community-based Organizations Task Force and the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy, according to a news release.

Keeping in tune with the goal of Heifer International - a nonprofit organization that has worked to end world hunger since 1944 - the paper focuses on the work the group does to help educate and provide for families in need worldwide.

Deborah Keene, Heifer’s vice president of education, said in a news release: “We strive to engage people as global citizens, to enlist their help in our work to rid the world of hunger and poverty and to care about the Earth. This is wonderful affirmation that the work we do is important and impactful.”

The conference will be presented by the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy, partnered with the U.S. Department of State and the Office of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. The goal is to double the number of Americans volunteering for activities in the U.S. or abroad from 60 million to 120 million in 10 years. More information about the conference can be found at usc4cd.org.
