Police beat

— 2 men arrested, charged in robbery

Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with a beating and robbery that occurred last month, Little Rock police said.

Laron Thompson, 24, and Victor Thompson, 22, both of 1519 Schiller St., were picked up on warrants charging them with aggravated robbery and theft. Victor Thompson also was charged with aggravated assault.

The charges stem from an Aug. 12 robbery near West 12th and Cross streets in which five men - three wielding semiautomatic pistols - attacked Joshua Curry, 20, of Little Rock, absconding with his mobile telephone, keys and an unknown amount of cash. Curry was treated for cuts on his face and head suffered during a pistol-whipping in the beating, police said.

Police: LR victim recognized robber

One of eight people robbed at gunpoint Monday night in a Hillcrest apartment told officers he recognized one of the suspects as someone who had visited the apartment a few days before the robbery, Little Rock police said Tuesday.

Three men, two of whom were armed with semiautomatic pistols, forced the eight to lie on the floor before taking an undisclosed amount of money from them in the apartment at 2100 Kavanaugh Blvd.

One of the victims, who wasn’t identified in police reports, said he met one of the assailants Saturday at a convenience store on South Woodrow Street. Before giving the man a ride to another house, they stopped at the Kavanaugh Boulevard apartment and smoked marijuana together.

During the Monday robbery, the three suspects demanded “weed” and money, police said.
