UAPB’s Webber honored by SWAC

Arkansas-Pine Bluff senior wide receiver Raymond Webber was named offensive player of the week by the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Webber set a school record with 11 receptions for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Golden Lions to a 35-19 victory over Clark-Atlanta last Saturday in St. Louis. He leads the nation in receptions per game with 9.67 and is third in receiving yards per game at 123.33.

Tech junior honored

Arkansas Tech junior outside hitter Laura Farney was named the West Division’s offensive player of the week by the Gulf South Conference for the third consecutive week.

Farney, a preseason All-Gulf South West Division selection, helped lead the Golden Suns to victories last week against Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas. She recorded 12 kills and 11 digs against OBU.

OBU sophomore gets mention

Ouachita Baptist sophomore libero Allison Frizzell was named the West Division’s defensive player of the week by the Gulf South Conference.

Frizzell, who leads the nation in digs with 7.53 per set, recorded 42 digs against Christian Brothers. She also had 22 digs against Arkansas Tech.

Hendrix men finish 20th at Tunica

Hendrix’s men finished 20th in the Rhodes College Fall Classic at Tunica (Miss.) National Golf Course.

Sophomore Micah Graf led Hendrix, shooting an 82 on Sunday and 80 on Monday, tying for 64th overall.

Pienaar leads UCA to victory

Central Arkansas senior Gideon Pienaar shot a final-round 74 and led the Bears to the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate championship at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan.

The Bears won the tournament with a score of 889, besting second-place Kansas State by nine strokes.

UALR finishes second at Kansas

UALR’s women finished second at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence, Kan., finishing 10 strokes behind Kansas.

Sophomore Emelie Westrup (225) was fifth and junior Megan Vaughn (227) tied for sixth to lead UALR, while sophomore Malin Lundberg tied for 15th.
