Boat-launch ramp closing for repairs in Quarry Park

— The Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close the Norfork River boat-launch ramp in Quarry Park below the Norfork Dam for repairs beginning Monday.

The boat launch will remain closed through at least Oct. 23 as work is done to the entire lower parking area, launch ramp and entrance road. All other park facilities will remain open, although there may be other short-term closures within the campground for paving, officials said.

River access for wade fishing at Quarry Park will also be affected. A marked walkway from the upper parking area to the river near the mouth of Dry Run Creek, adjacent to the launch area entrance road, will be provided for access.

An alternative public boat launch access, operated by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, is located at the confluence of the Norfork and White Rivers within the city of Norfork. Another fishing location is the Bill Ackerman walk-in-handicap access on the Norfork River, one mile up River Ridge Road.

More information is available from the Corps’ Mountain Home Project Office, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, at (870) 425-2700 or at the office, which is at 324 West Seventh Street in Mountain Home.
