BATESVILLE — A stretch of U.S. 167 between Main Street and White Drive was officially opened Sept. 23. The $9.4 million project widened the stretch of highway from two lanes to four.

CLEBURNE COUNTY

Business Expo set

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo 2010 will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Heber Springs Community Center. The theme is “Game Show Fever.”

LONOKE COUNTY

Man arrested on arson charge

WARD — On Sept. 12, the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential fire at 343 Butlerville Road in Ward. The residence, a camping trailer and a Ferguson tractor were totally destroyed as a result of the fire. Sheriff’s Office investigator Matthew Edwards obtained an arrest warrant for Wade Ainsworth, 37, also of Butlerville Road. Around 11:13 a.m. Sept. 27, Sheriff Jim Roberson located Ainsworth in the Butlerville area and took him into custody on suspicion of arson. Ainsworth is being held without bond at the Lonoke County Detention Facility. The estimated value of damage as a result of the fire was $44,000.
