McDaniel tells AP he won’t aim for Congress in ’12

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says he favors the use of cameras in the courtroom, and says also that he won’t run for Congress in 2012.

McDaniel spoke Saturday at the awards luncheon of the Arkansas Associated Press Broadcasters Association. He said that while he has heard some speculation that he might run for Congress next year, any higher office he might seek will be in Little Rock.

More than two dozen television journalists attended the awards lunch, and McDaniel said that while he once opposed the use of cameras in state courtrooms, he now favors their use. McDaniel said he is pleased with how televised proceedings of the state Supreme Court and legislative committees have turned out — and says the public has the right to see what’s going on.
