UPDATE: Tornado watch issued for west, central Arkansas

Severe weather is pounding parts of Arkansas, but there have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 5 counties through 1 a.m. Sunday for Conway, Pope, Yell, Johnson and Logan counties. A tornado warning is in effect for Conway, Pope and Yell counties until 10:15 p.m.

A storm spotter has reported a possible tornado 5 miles north of Waldron.

National Weather Service John Robinson says crews are surveying damage in Newton and Searcy counties that may have been done by twisters on Saturday.

Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokesman Tommy Jackson says there were no reports of injuries, but roof damage to some homes was reported in Newton County.

The weather service reported possible tornadoes near Smith Mountain and Bass, and one near Eula in Searcy County.
