David Derreberry, center, is escorted from the Lonoke County Courthouse after a hearing on April 29.

— A trial date was set Friday for a Greenbrier man charged with robbing and fatally shooting a Cabot pawn shop owner and then setting fire to his store.

Judge Sandy Huckabee also ordered mental evaluations for David Derreberry, 37, and his wife, who is charged with lesser counts related to the incident, during a brief hearing at Lonoke County Circuit Court.

The couple was arrested after Billy Joe Pipkin, 61, was found dead inside KBC Pawn by crews that responded to a fire there just before 4 p.m. on April 4.

Derreberry is charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, arson, theft of a firearm and theft of property more than $2,500. Prosecutor Chuck Graham said Friday he is seeking the death penalty in the case.

Derreberry's wife, 31-year-old Jaclyn Derreberry, meanwhile, faces charges of hindering apprehension, two counts of theft by receiving, and criminal use of property or laundry of criminal proceeds.

Neither suspect spoke during the hearing, during which innocent pleas were entered for each. As he was escorted out of the courtroom and asked if he was guilty, Derreberry said he had no comment.

If indeed sir. if your convicted of this hanis crime, I hope indeed you get the death penalty. You took a life of a business man for your own gain and you need to pay the price. As for your wife, she will surely get off way too easy. I truely think she was behind this as much as you were and needs the same death penalty.
