Nursing students recognized at ceremony

— Thirtyseven practical-nursing students were recognized during a pinning ceremony July 22 at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.

Graduates included the following local students:

Batesville: Christy Blackmore, Jonathan Bruce, Alisha Carter, Angela Chapman, Alicia Hunter, Brandi Nast, Crystal Patterson, Lila Sanchez, Krisi Stephens, Jennifer Strecker, Nichole Stround, Danielle Hurst, Michael Wojcik and Kelli Matlock.

Black Rock: Michael Bruce.

Cave City: Tyler Asberry, Heather Baird, Tiffany Harmon, Aleta Tyndall and Rachael Rose.

Cushman: Norma Cooper.

Desha: Stacy Mulholland and Yvette Nutt.

Drasco: Rebekah Wildmon.

Floral: Kimberly Spence and Hope Morin.

Cliff Jones, vice chancellor for academics, welcomed guests; Samuel Wildmon offered the invocation; and Vernon Hoffman, biology instructor, was introduced as guest speaker for the ceremony.

The following awards were presented by practical-nursing faculty members:

Perfect Attendance: Asberry, Chapman, Fortenberry, Nutt and Stoltzfus.

Outstanding Academic Performance: Blackmore and Harmon.

Commitment and Compassion: Chapman.

Nightingale Award: Stoltzfus.

Nursing and Allied Health Chairwoman Rebecca King announced the graduates, while practical-nursing faculty pinned the graduates.

After they recited the Nightingale pledge and lit their lamps, Asberry offered the benediction, and a reception followed in honor of graduates and their guests.

UACCB offers an 11-month practical-nursing program that begins every August. The application deadline is May 1.
