HOBART, Indiana — olice in northwest Indiana have found an abducted 7-year-old Arkansas boy living with his mother in a tent on a vacant lot in Hobart.
The Times of Munster reports that Joseph Callan appeared to be in good condition and was taken into custody by Child Protective Services pending a return to Arkansas.
The Times said the boy’s mother was being held awaiting extradition to Boone County, Arkansas, where she faces charges including interference with a court order and using a false identity. Hobart police could not say Saturday whether 38-year-old Denise Callan of Omaha had an attorney.
Police say Denise Callan abducted her son Sept. 16 during a visitation.
A Hobart man called Harrison police Thursday after recognizing the boy on a missing children website.
