Tech Professional Development Institute releases upcoming schedule

— Arkansas Tech University will offer eight work-force training opportunities through its Professional Development Institute during the coming weeks.

The following courses will be offered in cooperation with the Russellville Industry Council, with funding provided by the Arkansas Incumbent Worker Training Program through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission:

• Giving Recognition, Wednesday.

• Activating Change: The Individual Contributor, Wednesday.

• Developing Team Agility: Day-to-Day Tools, Wednesday, Feb. 16.

• Resolving Conflicts Within Your Team, Wednesday, Feb. 23.

The six sessions listed above will last from 1-5 p.m. and will be conducted at Lake Point Conference Center in Russellville.

Each participant is responsible for a $50 materials fee for each course. Each enrollee must provide an hourly wage/salary rate for grant-match reporting purposes.

In addition to the team-building courses listed above, the Arkansas Tech Professional Development Institute will also offer the following computer training opportunities at Lake Point Conference Center:

• Microsoft Word 2007 I, 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 1-17.

• Microsoft Word 2007 II, 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 22-March 10.

The Microsoft Word courses are provided free of charge in cooperation with the Russellville Industry Council and the Arkansas Incumbent Worker Training Program. There is a limit of 15 participants for each course on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Arkansas Tech Professional Development Institute is part of the university’s College of Professional Studies and Community Outreach.

Jeff Aulgur, director of the institute said the office “specializes in delivering ‘just-in-time’ customized training to prepare individuals and organizations to compete in the new economy.”
