Pianist Lara Downes will include a work by Little Rock native Florence Price (1887-1953) in her recital, under the auspices of the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock, at 7:30 p.m. today in the Parish Hall, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi St., Little Rock. Downes’ program, called “The Americans,” will include American Ballads by Roy Harris; Excursions, op.20, by Samuel Barber; “Four Dance Episodes” from Rodeo and Four Piano Blues by Aaron Copland; Price’s Fantasie Negre; and George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The Arkansas State University Theatre will stage The Butler Did It, a comedy murder mystery by Walter and Peter Marks (in which all the characters are named Butler), at 7:30 p.m.Friday-Saturday and Monday-Wednesday in ASU’s Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro. The play contains adult language and subject matter; children younger than 6 won’t be admitted. Latecomers will not be seated until intermission.
