2 Eureka Springs men indicted on weapons charges

Prosecutors say a federal grand jury at Fort Smith has indicted two Eureka Springs men on weapons charges, including an accusation that one of them possessed an improvised explosive device — a bomb that didn’t go off after being left at an Osage church being used as a polling place in an election.

The U.S. attorney’s office at Fort Smith said Monday that the charging document was a superseding indictment for 40-year-old Mark Krause — previously charged in the church-bomb matter. A news release said the new indictment adds charges against Krause as well as a second man, 69-year-old Michael Pierce.

Both men face charges of possessing unregistered firearms, and aiding and abetting each other in possessing unregistered firearms. An additional count against Krause accuses him in the church-bomb case.
