Vinson, 22, has been diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia and is a patient at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Officer Installation

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle AARP Chapter will install its new officers from 6:50-7 p.m. and hold the passing of the gavel at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. A social period will begin at 6:30 p.m. Nicole Heaps of the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center will preside over the swearing-in.

Teachers Meeting

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the Activity Center of Conway First Baptist Church. The speaker, Jo Kilduff, past state president of Colonial Dames XVII Century, will present the program Joining Patriotic Societies. Anyone who has retired from any position in education is welcome.

Volunteers Needed

RUSSELLVILLE — The AARP Tax-Aide program is seeking volunteers to help prepare income-tax returns for seniors and those with low to moderate incomes. The program offers free assistance to qualifying individuals in the preparation of federal and state income-tax returns. Training will be provided. Prior experience in tax preparation is helpful but not required. Basic computer skills (data entry) are needed. Self-study material is available, and formal training will be held Monday, Jan. 24, through Friday, Jan. 28, at the Hughes Center. Preparation of tax returns will begin Tuesday, Feb. 1, and continue through Wednesday, April 13. Volunteers should plan to work at least four hours per week during this period.
