Five new exhibits set to open Thursday at UCA gallery

— The Baum Gallery of Fine Art at the University of Central Arkansas will open five exhibits on Thursday. The exhibits will be available for viewing through Thursday, Feb. 24.

Opening receptions are scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16. Receptions and exhibits are free. The public is invited.

Exhibits include:

• “Improvising Intaglio: Jiri Anderle Prints from the Baruch Foundation,” an exhibit of 20 works by Anderle, a Central European master printer.

• “Habitats: Portraiture by Kat Wilson,” an exhibit of 20 works by the Fort Smith photographer. Wilson also has a piece of her art on display in the 53rd annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock.

• “Earth: Fragile Planet,” an exhibit of 40 works by contemporary illustrators from around the world that address environmental concerns. The exhibit is organized for travel by the Society of Illustrators, New York, N.Y.

• “Intersecting the Book: When Artists, Writers and Graphic Designers Create 2D Worlds,” curated in-house by UCA graphics assistant professor Ray Ogar.

• “Axis Mundi: Levittown,” a multi-media exhibit by UCA assistant professor Holly Laws.
