JONESBORO — Authorities in Craighead County have arrested a man after he reportedly confessed to killing his 83-year-old neighbor and landlord.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 39-year-old Ronnie Laster late Saturday night in the Dec. 29 death of Helen Johnson. Police say Laster lived two houses away from Johnson and that he rented his home from her.
Sheriff Jack McCann tells the Jonesboro Sun that Laster confessed during an interview with police, but no motive was released.
Police say Johnson died from a blow to her head or neck, though authorities are still awaiting an official cause of death.
