There will be giggles and twitters and aplenty as Improv LittleRock members present their first show of the new year. Winter Flurries, a rapid-fire form of improvisation, starts things off at 8 p.m. Friday. The Comedy Throwdown competition starts at 10 p.m. Saturday. Cellist Julie Albers, who soloed with violinist Giora Schmidt in the Brahms Double Concerto with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in January 2009, returns to play the Cello Concerto by Edward Elgar with the orchestra and conductor Philip Mann at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Center Music Hall, West Markham Street and Broadway, Little Rock. Mann will also conduct the Overture to The School for Scandal by Samuel Barber and the Symphony No. 5, “Reformation,” by Felix Mendelssohn. Metal Recycling Corp. is the concert sponsor. Albers will also give a recital with pianist Adam Nieman at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Reves RecitalHall at Hendrix College, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway. The program includes the Cello Sonata No. 3 in A major, op.69, by Ludwig van Beethoven; Suite populaire espagnole by Manuel de Falla; and the Cello Sonata by Sergei Rachmaninoff. DeGray Lake Resort State Park pays homage tobirds of prey at the annual Eagles Et Cetera weekend, Friday-Sunday. Throughout the event, guests can participate in bird shows, games, bird hikes, falconry demonstrations, owl prowls and other special bird-related programs.
