Weak class still yields winners, losers

It might have been a relatively weak class of free agents, but the spending frenzy that broke out across the NHL last weekend said a lot about the financial and competitive state of the league. From 11 a.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Central on Tuesday, about 100 free agents signed contracts with new NHL clubs or headed to Europe.
