Arkadelphia designer to be honored Saturday at Little Rock Fashion Week

— Martha Dixon of Arkadelphia is Little Rock Fashion Week’s Fashion Icon of the Year.

Dixon, 65, gained national recognition for designing gowns for Hillary Clinton in the late 1980s and ’90s, when she was first lady of Arkansas.

A graduate of Pea ke High school in Arkadelphia, Dixon attended Henderson State University and received a degree in fashion and design from Commercial Technical Institute in Little Falls, N.J.

Dixon designed gowns for Clinton, including the 1986-87 Arkansas gubernatorial inaugural ball gown and the 1992-93 presidential gala ball gown. She is the founder of Martha’s Fashion and Design, Dixon Manufacturing and Dixon Kids.

The Fashion Icon Award will be presented to Dixon on Saturday during Little Rock Fashion Week’s Posh Expression Fashion Experience at the Statehouse Convention Center, Ballroom A.
