2 Arkansas men plead guilty to cross burning charges

This article was published July 18, 2011 at 6:08 p.m.

Two Arkansas cousins have pleaded guilty to hate crime charges for burning a cross near the home of a black man outside Batesville.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Tony Branscum and 23-year-old James Bradley “Brad” Branscum entered the pleas Monday and that each faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of $250,000.

A third person, 19-year-old Curtis Coffee, was also named in a November indictment. His trial is set for July 25.

Prosecutors say the men burned the cross on Aug. 28 at a home in Salado, which is about six miles south of Batesville in Independence County.

Isn't only one county either,we've read the most peculiar stories about many.Only it seems like tales from an 1800's fright night storybook tabloid.
