A suspect wanted in the theft of a tip jar from a coffee shop drive-thru turned himself in, saying that he was in his father's car and didn't want to land his dad in hot water once he read about the incident in the newspaper.

Nathaniel Gordon, 24, of Little Rock told authorities he was driving his father's black Range Rover on July 13 when he came through the Starbucks at 917 Broadway Street and grabbed the tip jar.

An employee caught part of the license tag, and authorities put out a news release on the theft, which was covered in the media.

Gordon, a white man with a bald head and square, wire-framed glasses, drove off with about $20 from the jar, he later said.

Gordon has been charged with theft of property. He was transported to the Pulaski County jail.
