HAGARVILLE, Ark. — Johnson County authorities say a 29 year-old Clarksville man drowned in a swimming area in Big Piney Creek near Hagarville.
A news release from the sheriff’s office says the body of Daniel Lee Stewart was recovered about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The release says Stewart was with friends when he jumped into about 12 feet of water about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The witnesses said Stewart surfaced briefly — then disappeared.
The body is being sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
