Lenten Luncheon

CONWAY — Church Women United will hold a community Lenten luncheon at noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 1075 Hogan Lane. The co-host will be Four Winds Church. The public is invited. A $3 donation is suggested.

FRIDAY

Fish Fry

MORRILTON — Knights of Columbus Council 5209 will hold an All-You-Can-Eat

Catfish Dinner from 5-8 p.m. at the council’s hall at 808 N. Cedar. Carryouts will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again from 4-8 p.m. Dine in for $10 for adults or $4 for children over 4. Children 4 and under may eat free. The carryout price is $8. Call (501) 208-0199 Friday morning to reserve carryout meals.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Book Sale

CONWAY — The Friends of the Faulkner County Library Spring Book Sale will begin for the Friends at 6 p.m. Friday after a short annual meeting. The sale will continue for the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the library in Conway. Bring book and magazine donations and Kroger plastic grocery bags to the library.

SATURDAY

Spaghetti Dinner

NEW DIXIE — There will be a spaghetti and sausage dinner in St. Boniface Hall from 4-7:30 p.m. The dinner will feature homemade rolls and peach cobbler. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Children under age 6 may eat free with a parent. For carryout, call (501) 759-2896 after 3:30 p.m.

Lecture, Film Viewing

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas’ College of Liberal Arts will host a free public lecture and viewing of two of Woody Allen’s surprising and sensuous works: Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2009) and Match Point (2005). The lecture will begin at 1:30 p.m., and viewing of the films will begin at 3:30 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on campus. “Watching Woody Allen, Seriously” is one of the many public lectures presented by the College of Liberal Arts’ “Exploring Our World” lecture series. Wayne Stengel will discuss ways Allen’s artistry was transformed in these movies. This lecture is free and open to the public. The chosen films are intended for mature audiences. MONDAY AND TUESDAY

Boater Course

DARDANELLE — Lake Dardanelle State Park, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Coast Guard Auxiliary are partnering to provide a boating-

education course that is open to the public. The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center classroom. Participants must attend both nights to complete the course. The minimum six-hour course includes boat classification, registration, lifesaving equipment, navigation aids, rules of the road, maintenance, courtesy and much more. The free course is open to a limited number of participants. Preregistration is required. Call (479) 890-7477. TUESDAY

Teachers Meeting

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Retired Teachers Association will hold its regular meeting at 2:30 p.m. in the Activity Center of First Baptist Church. Terry Kimbrow, president of Central Baptist College, will discuss plans for the future of the college.

Retirees from any position in education are invited to attend.

Wine Tasting

MORRILTON — There will be a wine tasting with Bruce Cochran from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to benefit the arts. The event is a fundraiser for the Arts Council of Conway County and will be held in the Rialto Gallery at 213 E. Broadway. Photography will be on display at the gallery, and tours of the historic Rialto Theatre will be conducted. Tickets are $25 per person and are a tax-deductible donation. THURSDY, MARCH 17

Pancake Supper

MORRILTON — The Morrilton First United Methodist Church Methodist Men will hold their annual Pancake Supper from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. All-you-can-eat pancakes and Petit Jean sausages will be served. Boy Scout Troop 93, sponsored by the church, will assist the men. Take-out orders will be available at the door that evening. Tickets can be purchased from the men of the church or at the door. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students in the 12th grade and under. Proceeds are used to aid charitable organizations through the community.
