LUCILLE WHITLEY COLE, age 77, of Mabelvale passed awayWednesday, May 11, 2011. She was born Nov. 16, 1933 in Haskell, Ark. Mrs. Cole was a member of Ironton Assembly of God Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by herparents, C.E. Preacher and Mattie Whitley; and three sisters, Ada Rogers, Lillian Whitley and Joyce Parnell.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Elton Cole; two sons, Phillip Cole and wife Ginger, and Tim Cole and wife Julie; three sisters, Louise Whitley, Janice Couch and husband Bill, and Barbara Atkinson; four grandchildren, Rhonda Warren, Terry Cole, Seth Lybrand and Karmen Lybrand; and three great-grandchildren, Cecelia Warren, Cooper Blankenship and Elijah Blankenship.

Pallbearers will be Tony Harris, Jerry Parnell, Keith Archer, Brandon Burton, Lin Peeler and Phillip Rappold. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Ashby Funeral Home. VIRGINIA “GINGER” JEAN FOOT, 80, of North Little Rockdied Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Hospice Health Care Center in Little Rock. She was retired from the Arkansas Civil Air Patrol.

Ginger was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing clothes for orphans in South America. She also enjoyed making lap quilts for the Veterans Administration.

She is survived by her four children, James Paul Foot and wife Lana Mae Foot, Debbie Henderson and husband Mike Henderson, Steve Foot and wife Nancy England Foot, and PhillipFoot and wife Judy Foot; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Foot, Natalie Vasilopoulos, Jarrett Fitts, Courtney Foot, Joanna Foot, Max Foot and Leslie Foot; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Zoie Vasilopoulos, and Jeremiah and Delaney Foot.

LOUISE HAMM KIRK, widow of Doyle “Pete” Kirk, was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Ash Flat, Ark., and passed away May 12, 2011, in Little Rock. She was also preceded in death by parents, Jason and Ruth Hamm; son, Michael Kirk; brother, Gordon Hamm; and sister, Annette Walker.

Survivors include Blaine (Kay) Kirk, Benton, Ark.; granddaughter, Cheryl Kirk, Benton, Ark.; grandsons, Jason Kirk, Afghanistan, and Paul Kirk, Maryland; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Louise retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Little Rock.

At her request, there will be no funeral.

VIRGINIA “MEME” McCOOL, 85, of Sherwood began her life onAug. 13, 1925, in Monroe County, Ark. Married G.W. McCool Jr. and moved to Sherwood to raise their family. They enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with friends andfamily at Lake Atkins.

She was a devoted, caring wife and mother and a loving “MeMe” to many. She loved to cook, sew and do crafts. She retired from Sherwood Elementary School as a cafeteria manager and was a longtime member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.

She’ll be forever loved and remembered by husband of 67 years, G.W.; daughter, June, husband, Joe Owen; daughter, Gail, husband, James Blucker; grandchildren, Danny Owen, wife Lisa, Vicki McCourt, husband Keith, Christa Darr, husband Roger, MiChelle Moore; treasured greatgrandchildren Timothy and Zachary McCourt, Riley and Samantha Darr, Emily Moore; extended family: sister-in-law, Laverne Shepherd, brother-in-law, Kenny Boyle, Cecy King and son David Grisham, and generations of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She left this world on May 12, 2011, to reunite in heavenly rest with her son, Wayne McCool; mother, Hazel Shepherd; father, Lugene Shepherd; sister, Jerliene Boyle; and brothers, Millard and Frank Shepherd.

Heaven’s gain was our loss when our angel, BREANNA L.McKOY, 4, was called by our Lord on May 12, 2011, at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

Breanna was born on June 2, 2006, in Little Rock, Ark. Shehad a deep love for Christ and accepted Him as her Lord andSavior on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, under the leadership of Pastor Eric L. Alexander, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She was a joyful and outgoing student in Mrs. Buffalo’s Pre-K class at David O’ Dodd Elementary School. Breanna, aka “Grandma,” was well-known amongst her peers and school staff.

VICTORY ELLEN SMITH, at age 68, of North Little Rock, Ark ., departed this life on May 12th at 2:19 p.m. Vickie was born on Dec. 20th, 1942, in McCrory, Ark., to the late Vernon and Edith McBroome.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Vernon McBroome; mother, Edith McBroome; and son, Chad Vernon Smith. She is survived by her husband, Richard Leonard Smith; daughters, Brenda Kay House and Stephanie Ann Machen; son, David Richard Smith; granddaughters, Jennifer Faughn Neighbors, Carly Ann Machen and Sophie Randall Machen; great-grandson, Peyton Duran Nelson; and sisters, Patsy Jean Morgan and Vernice Ann Hickerson.

BRENT RICHARD SPENCE, 23, of Little Rock, Ark., died Friday,May 6, 2011, in San Angelo, Texas. He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

He spent his life in the company of beloved friends and family, enjoying music, and givingall of his heart and time. He was often found watching his favorite shows, teasing and playing practical jokes, long drives with the windows down and music blaring, or just relaxing. His compassion and dedication to those he loved will forever define him. His mother always said “He has a good heart;” his father described him as “a man who would give you the shirt off his back.”

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Bisgood and Carl and Hilda Spence. Survivors include his parents, Richard and Regina Spence; sister, Kyah Spence, brother-in-law, Robert McDaniels, and nephew, Maddox Spence; grandmother, Norma Bisgood; aunts and uncles, Bobby and Lydia Bemberg, Ralph and Cindy Waters, Jim and Louise Malone, Barry and Carla Greenhalgh, Rebecca Spence, Charles Spence; and Brent’s girlfriend, Kasi Reed and daughter Madi.

BRADFORD - Linda L. Billsland, 59, of Bradford, died May 12, 2011. She was born July 2, 1951 in Newport, Arkansas to the late J.P. And Geneva Walker Modlin. Mrs. Billsland was a member of the Bradford Assembly of God, where she loved worshiping and loved all of her church family dearly. She was a restaurant manager and waitress for many years, and enjoyed cooking and baking, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eric Modlin. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, David E. Billsland; sons, Douglas Allen Billsland, Earl J. DeBerry and wife Tracy, Curtis DeBerry and wife Rebecca, and Shane DeBerry and wife Mary; daughters, Joyce Squire and Jodi King; three brothers, Earl Modlin and wife Connie, Billy D. CROSSETT - Mr. Billy Allison Sr., 64, of Crossett, died Thursday. Mr. Allison was a native of Dermott and a resident of Crossett for the past 40 years. He worked for Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 39 1/2 years. He was a member of the MagnoliaBaptist Church and a member of the White Oak Hunting Club. He was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved his family and his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Erston and Virginia Smith Allison and a brother, Jimmy Allison. ENGLAND - Florene Thomas VanZandt went to be with Jesus on May 11,2011. She was born on May 7, 1919, and was a lifelong resident of England and Coy. She was a member of England First Baptist Church and longtime member of England Manor. Florene lived a life of service to others, her family, her twin sister, and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter Matthew and Vannie Henrietta Burkett Thomas; her husband of 56 years, Buford Gaston “Boots” VanZandt; brothers Otho Thomas, Otis Thomas (Infant), Arnold Thomas, J.C. Thomas and Don Thomas; sister, Montene and loving twin sister, Corene. She is survived by one brother, Dean Thomas of Arizona; one son, Bufford Ray VanZandt and wife Artamesa of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Jeanette Horner and husband Dan of Findlay, Ohio, and Vannie Lou Hayley and husband James of Little Rock; one grandson, Mike Horner of Findlay, Ohio; one granddaughter, Wendee Acthison and husband Jeremy of Findlay, Ohio; greatgrandchildren Tyler and Shelbee and twins Hunter and Sydnee. She also had many nephews, nieces, and friends.

FAIRFIELD BAY - Mr. Dale Wayne Rose, age 73, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away May 11, 2011 at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1937 in Rock Falls, Illinois to Joseph (Bud) Henry and Helen Audrey (Crossley) Rose. He was an Army veteran, earned a bachelor’s in education and was a schoolteacher and coach in Valmeyer, Illinois for more than 30 years, and a member of the Christian Church, Tampico, Illinois. He had a great love of music and kids, which showed with his volunteer work at the Ozarks Folk Center and assisting the volleyball coach at the Clinton High School. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and Mom says, “He was one great son!”

Mr. Rose is survived by his mother, two brothers and three sisters - Robert (Jack) Rose, May Zemke, Randy Rose, Carole Rose, and Linda Tempel. He was preceded in death by his fatherand Olive Crossley.

GREENBRIER - Evelyn P. Hodges, 70, of Greenbrier, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011. Born in Carnegie, Okla., she was a daughter to Mary Alice Montgomery Pritchard and the late Delmar Pritchard. Evelyn was a Special Education Aide and retired from the Greenbrier School District. She was a member of Bono Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Joe Hodges Sr.; her mother, Mary Alice Montgomery Pritchard; son, Billy Joe Hodges Jr. and wife Mary of Greenbrier; daughters, Patricia Widman and husband Paul of Clearwater, Fla., and Deborah Garjoulis and husband Mike of North Carolina; stepdaughters, Carla Fox and husband Mike of Greenbrier, Jaquita Zachary of Midland, Texas and Alicia Hodges of Enid, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. LONOKE - Rosa Lee Lassiter, age 93, died May 13, 2011. She was born June 22, 1917, in Dennard, Ark., to Vinnie Gertrude (Watts) and James Cleburn Cates.

Rosa enjoyed her family and cooking for them. She was famous for her fried chicken, homemade biscuits and peach cobbler. You could always find a cake or pie at her house. Rosa was a devoted Christian. Her love for the Lord was always displayed, a Bible was close at hand. Her knowledge of the Bible was always shared to her children and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, George B. Lassiter; and a grandson, Timmy Ray Young; three brothers, Herman Cates, Garner Cates and J.C. Cates; and two sisters, Inez Pope and Ruby Pope.

She is survived by two sons, Gene (Jacqueline) Lassiter of Bryant, Ronnie (Patsy) Lassiter; and a daughter, Paulette Lassiter Ayers of Lonoke; three granddaughters, LynAnne (Russell) Ivy of Lonoke, Holly (Clint) Hutcheson of Benton, and DeAnn (Toby) Bostic of Enola; seven great-grandchildren, and another due in July; and three sisters, Madge Archer, Billie Ezell and Wanda Pettitt. She was loved by a host of friends and caregivers at Golden Years Manor.

QUITMAN - Menta Faye Skinner, 80, of Quitman went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 12, 2011. She was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Enola to the late Ernest Thurlow Herring and Mary Cordelia Langston Herring. She was a homemaker and a member of Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husbandof 63 years, Delbert Skinner; four daughters, Jeanette Colclasure and husband Gerald of Carlisle, Judy Reynolds and husband Tim of Marshall, Marilyn Brock and husband Erwin of Quitman and Brenda Burroughs and husband Keith ofQuitman; four sisters, Clestine Goodwin and Mary Lois Clark, both of Conway, Willie Mae Karber of North Little Rock and Ernestine Mauldin of Quitman; three brothers, Harrell Herring of North Little Rock, Carrol Herring of Quitman and Burton Herring of Alabama; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. SEARCY - Irma Imogene Bailey McConnaughhay, 89, of Searcy and resident of Griffithville community most of her life went to be with her Lord and those that passed before her Wednesday, May 11, 2011. She was born Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1921,to the late Nell and Frank Bailey of Griffithville. She was a member of Dogwood United Methodist Church and continued working until she retired at the age of 82.

In addition toher parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie R. McConnaughhay; her brothers, Wayne Bailey and Vernon “Red” Bailey. Mrs. McConnaughhay is survived by two sons, Larry McConnaughhay and his wife Wilma of Cabot and Rick McConnaughhay and his wife Wanda of Oxford, Ark.; five grandchildren, Sandi Merrow, Crystal Thurman, Johnie McConnaughhay, Tracy Barbarotto and Michael McConnaughhay; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Drew and McKayla Merrow, Tanner and Max Thurman.

WARD - Mary Margaret Rainwater of Ward, Ark., age 77,passed away May 10, 2011, in Sherwood, Ark. She was born July 2, 1933, in Conroe, Texas, to Lewis and Lillie Adams.

Mary was a waitress for most of her life. She was a verypassionate woman who loved her family, reading, and never knew a stranger.

She is survived by three daughters, Connie Hall and husband Mitchell of Ward, Ark., Sheryl Rainwater of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Kimberly Johnson and husband John of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Clarence Dettwieler of Oklahoma, George Davis and wife Gail of Cabot, Ark.; six sisters, Kathleen Higgs of Indiana, Christine Kerlin and husband Victor of Almond, Ark., Joanne Allen and husband Art of Searcy, Ark., Harriett Abbott of Searcy, Ark., Doll Robbins of Concord, Ark., and Carol Lane and husband Art of Kansas. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Steve Rainwater of Beebe, Ark., Angie Smith and husband Tony of Ward, Ark., Jesse Johnson of St. Petersburg,Fla., Lindsay Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mikaella Rainwater-Moore of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Sabrina Rainwater and Shawn Rainwater. TEXARKANA, Texas - Warren E. Riddell, 72, of Texarkana, Texas, died on May 12, 2011, following an extended illness. He was born in Tollville, Ark. (Prairie County), to Bertha Swartwood Riddell and Orville H. Riddell on June 22, 1938. He wasthe grandson of Jeanette Stipp Riddell and John W. Riddell.

He graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1957 and attended Texarkana College, majoring in Psychology. He had been a member of the Arkansas National Guard, Texas National Guard and USAF for seven years, serving in France and Germany. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 44 years and a member of Carlton Fountain Sunday School Class. Warren had held several jobs during his lifetime, including Firestone tire salesman, Over the road truck driver and insurance salesman, but his favorite was his last job, Opportunities Inc. as a van driver for the handicapped, until his health forced him to retire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers, Leland Riddell, Raymond Riddell, John W. Riddell; and sister, Norma Riddell Apker. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carlene Crowly Riddell; his sons, Mark A. Riddell and wife Amy of Texarkana, Texas, Steven B. Riddell and wife Tammy of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Sonja Riddell Wagner of Texarkana, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Cole Riddell, Collins Riddell, Michael K. Riddell, Stephanie Riddell, Savannah Riddell, Sarabeth Riddell, Steven Pearson, Stephanie Pearson, Devin Pearson, Samantha Pearson and Ethan Wagner; his sisters, Betty “BJ” Riddell Haller of Conway, Ark., and Wanda Riddell Chastain of Stuttgart, Ark.; a special uncle, Carl L. Riddell of Russellville, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Riddell of Stuttgart, Ark., and Russell Crowly Prine of Hazen, Ark.; his beloved dog, Heidi; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation services will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Atrium with Rev. Larry Sims officiating.
