GRAMBLING, La. - D.J. Williams threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Mario Louis in overtime to give Grambling State a victory over winless Mississippi Valley State.

The Delta Devils (0-8, 0-7) had rallied to send the game into overtime on Garrick Jones’ 3-yard scoring run as time expired in regulation. That concluded a run of 17 consecutive points. But it did not take Grambling State (3-4, 2-3) long to respond.

Mississippi Valley State’s Carlos Sanchez, who’d kicked a field goal and two extra points during that 17-0 run, missed a 37-yard field goal attempt on the Delta Devils’ first possession in overtime.Grambling State capitalized immediately. Williams would pass to Louis for the game-winning touchdown.

TEXAS SOUTHERN 42, CENTRAL STATE, OHIO 11

HOUSTON - Marcus Wright ran for 131 yards and a touchdown Saturday as Texas Southern beat Central State of Ohio.

Martin Gilbert ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Riko Smalls ran for another as the Tigers (3-4) finished with 320 yards rushing.

Reginald Perry recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for Texas Southern’s first touchdown. The score was 11-11 late in the first half when Gilbert scored the first of his touchdowns and the Tigers rolled from there.
