Real World on quest for some ‘real’ Arkansans

— Hey, all you reality TV junkies. Here’s your big chance.

Do you hanker to follow in the footsteps of your fellow Arkansan Kelley Limp? You remember Kelley. She was one of the stars of MTV’s The Real World: New Orleans in 2000.

Fayetteville native Kelley was described by MTV as a 21-year-old who was “opinionated, sassy and strong-willed.” She was also “blessed with stunning beauty and cunning charm.”

MTV also noted that in Fayetteville, “she’s used to walking into a bar (a place she loves to be) and having heads turn and lines form.”

A reality star was born. MTV cast Kelley as the sassy, sexy, barfly sorority girl not afraid to mouth off.

In case you aren’t familiar with the mother of the modern voyeuristic reality show, The Real World, which debuted in 1992, takes seven hormonal young people, crams them in together in a big house and records their frequently puerile interaction.

It’s like watching fish in an aquarium. Sometimes the fish behave badly. Not Jersey Shore badly, but still enough to mortify their parents.

Kelley survived her season, got introduced to actor Scott Wolf (Party of Five, V) by a mutual friend and married him in Fayetteville in 2004. Scott and Kelley’s first child (a boy) was born in 2009.

Hopefully, Kelley and Scott will live happily ever after.

Kelley was in Season 9. Currently airing is Season 26 — The Real World: San Diego (9 p.m. Wednesday). MTV bills the season as “an endless summer of bikinis, bromances and hookups.”

Hookups. Yeah, we know what that means. MTV also warns that the fun “could come to a crashing halt as personalities collide and tempers flare.”

MTV is already searching for the next gaggle of egocentrics for Season 27 (no city yet designated) and the casting crew will be in Little Rock to check the local talent Wednesday.

If you’re between the ages of 20 and 24 (older is too grownup) and dream of embarrassing yourself for several months before a national audience that frequently tops 2 million, be at the open casting call at Khalil’s Pub & Grill, 110 S. Shackleford Road, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.

MTV asks that you bring a recent photo that you can spare. Nowhere does my e-mail indicate which stereotypes they are looking for next season, so just be yourself.

There’s always a need for redneck bigots and religious zealots, anti-miscegenationists and misogynists, snobs and narcissistic ladies’ men, hedonistic boozers and slutty party girls, den mothers and dweebs.

Who’s airing in San Diego? MTV notes the current season has “two brainy engineering students,” two gay people, “a pair of gorgeous gym rats” and a local chick “who, despite being the youngest in the house, just may be able to teach her roommates a thing or two.”

Yeah, we know what that means.

Pig, ker-blooie. If watching young people behave badly isn’t your cup of reality, there’s always the new American Hoggers at 9 p.m. Wednesday on A&E. They hunt feral Texas hogs in this offering.

Why not? There are reality shows with good ol’ boys hunting alligators in Louisiana (Swamp People), two dudes hunting space rocks (Meteorite Men), a show about capturing snakes in the Everglades (Python Hunters) and one with rednecks hand fishing in Texas (Hillbilly Handfishin’). Why not wild hogs?

The series features the Campbell family, whose business it is to rid area farms of the wild boars that do millions of dollars in damage each year.

Daddy Jerry is crusty (and a former Texas Ranger). Son Robert is a colorful beefy boy in line to take over the family business. And 23-year-old daughter Krystal is, well, hot. Her BFF Leah is also hot. The gals wear tight T-shirts and know they’re hot.

That’s all we need in a reality show: a crusty ol’ coot, his colorful son and two hot chicks hunting hogs.

Virgin is back. Season 2 of Extra Virgin has kicked off on the Cooking Channel. The series, featuring Italian cooking by actress Debi Mazar and her Tuscan-born husband, Gabriele Corcos, airs at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Guest stars this season include Kathy Griffin, Adrian Grenier and Joe Mantegna.

SOA returning. FX has renewed Sons of Anarchy for a fifth season of 13 episodes.
