LITTLE ROCK — The best Halloween treats are often the ones that strike the right balance between scary and cute. As is the case with these sandwich cookies from Nestle. The recipe was a finalist in Nestle’s 2010 Spooktacular Baking Contest on Facebook.
It calls for refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough, but we think it would be just as good, if not better, using your favorite cookie dough recipe.
Dracula’s Dentures
1 (16.5-ounce) package
refrigerated chocolate chip
cookie bar dough 1/2 cup prepared vanilla
frosting, tinted red or pink Miniature marshmallows 48 (about 1 tablespoon)
blanched slivered almonds
Prepare cookies as directed on package. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
Cut each cookie in half for 48 halves.
Spread a layer of frosting on the bottom (flat side) of all the cookie halves. Place 6 marshmallow teeth around curved perimeter of 24 halves, making sure the marshmallows touch the frosting. Top with remaining 24 halves. For additional support, another marshmallow can be placed behind the teeth. Insert two almond slivers in between teeth for fangs.
If fangs do not adhere, dip tips into frosting.
