The agency is developing a project to add a center turn-lane to Cantrell between Mississippi Avenue and Perryville Road.

Highway officials say the current set-up is unsafe because left-turning vehicles block traffic and can cause wrecks. But adding the turn lane will mean encroaching on one or both sides of the roadway, which is lined by a number of businesses and some residences.

Officials say the meeting on Nov. 3 will allow members of the public to view displays, ask questions and comment on the plans. It is slated to run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church, 1500 N. Mississippi Ave.
