LITTLE ROCK — WHAT: Morningstar Farms vegetarian breakfast biscuits
STATS: The biscuits contain 270 calories and 8 fat grams. Sold in the freezer section in boxes of three.
THE SKINNY: There’s one thing that keeps us from being vegetarian.
And that’s bacon.
And steak. And burgers. And pork tenderloin. And barbecue. But mainly bacon.
Morningstar Farms, maker of pretend meat products, gets it. Just because you give up eating meat (either occasionally or indefinitely) doesn’t mean you want to give up the taste.
The company’s new creation of doughy biscuits stuffed with egg and cheese contain breakfast “meats” of textured vegetable protein - a pretty convincing bacon or the even better sausage - that can be microwaved in mere seconds. Quite satisfying for, say, a quick weekday breakfast.
We’re still not giving up bacon.
