RUSSELLVILLE — Van Horn Construction of Russellville was selected to build a $10.1 million residence hall scheduled to open in fall 2013 at Arkansas Tech University.
The Arkansas Tech Board of Tr u ste e s aw ard e d t he residence hall construction contract during its regular monthly meeting at the Ross Pendergraft Librar y and Technology Center last week.
Van Horn Construction was the low bidder among six firms that submitted bids for the project.
Once complete, the fivestory, 64,170-square foot residence hall will accommodate290 Arkansas Tech students. It will be located on M Street between Wilson Residence Hall and Hughes Residence Hall.
In other business on Thursday, the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees approved:
◊A transfer of $26,339 from the unappropriated educational and general fund balance to waterproof the exterior walls of the Administration Building basement and stop a water leak in that area;
◊A letter of intent from the College of Arts and Humanities that outlines plans for a new Associate of Arts degree in Ozark-Ouachita Studies, which the collegehopes to begin offering in fall 2012; and
◊A transfer of $48,530 from the unappropriated educational and general fund balance to fund completion of a new 82-space parking lot at Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus.
