Crash kills 2, hurts 9 at LR intersection

— Two people were killed and nine others injured in a three-vehicle accident in Little Rock last week, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality report made available on Wednesday.

Nelma Carpenter, 72, of Little Rock was driving east on the Interstate 30 frontage road at Geyer Springs Road about 4:03 p.m. on Oct. 20 when she veered to the right of traffic stopped at a red light and entered the intersection, striking a Nissan Altima traveling south on Geyer Springs and a Dodge Durango traveling north on the road.

Little Rock police said Carpenter and her grandson, Buck Carpenter, were transported to area hospitals where they later died.

The other passengers in Carpenter’s Oldsmobile car - Isabella Carpenter, Charles Carpenter and Campbell Carpenter - were taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the Altima, Casandra Neal, 27, of Little Rock and her passengers, Stetson Holt, Latonya Neal, Latisha Neal and Lateya Neal, were taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the Durango, Lakella Wilson, 32, of Little Rock was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
