LEONA MARIE (GUBANSKI) BECK, 73, of Maumelle, passed from this life on October 27, 2011. She was born to John and Frances Szczepaniak Gubanski on May 17, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was retired from Safeway, where she worked as a meat wrapper. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Rosary Sodality and Altar Society and was a dedicated volunteer for Hope Ministry.

Mrs. Beck is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph H. Beck; and 2 sisters, Constance Malchaski and Dorothy Banaszak.

She is survived by two brothers, Chester Gubanski and Joe Gubanski of North Little Rock, Arkansas (Marche); numerous nieces and nephews; two step-sons, Richard Beck of Center Ridge, Arkansas and Col. Anthony Beck of Montgomery, Alabama; four stepdaughters, Phyllis Gordon and Peggy Jennings of Morrilton, Arkansas, Pam Roberts of Conway, Arkansas, and Patti Wiessing of Tanzania, South Africa, who willserve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in North Little Rock (Marche). Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in North Little Rock (Marche), celebrated by Fr. T.J. CONNIE EVELYN (LOOPER) FRALEY, 68, of Jacksonville, wentto be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 26, 2011, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She attended the First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock where she was a lifelong, faithful saint. Connie was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker and loved her family unconditionally.

She never met a stranger or missed an opportunity to invite someone to church. Once she met someone, they instantly became her friend for life. She enjoyed flower gardening, working in the yard, collecting antiques, and more than anything spending time with friends and family.

BETTY JEAN HARRIS, 86, of Little Rock went to Glory on October27, 2011. Born October 7, 1925 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Claude and Leola Kennedy Rankin. She was a Christian and member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Churchand the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Durwood Harris; and a daughter, Michelle Harris.

She is survived by three sons, Mike Harris (Patsy) of Memphis, Pat Harris (Jana) of Little Rock and Mark Harris (Gwynn) of Benton; grandchildren, Amie Lawson (Ben), Kristy Jones (Blaine), Hayley Harris, Hannah Harris, Dr. Jed Darr (Cheryl) and Carolyn McCune (Wade), and four greatgrandchildren.

MEREDITH LEE HAWKINS, 41, of Little Rock died Tuesday, October 25, 2011. She was born in Little Rock on June 4, 1970, a daughterof James J. and Annette Grace Jackson Hawkins. She attended Anthony School and Little Rock Central High School, was a graduate of Williams Woods College in Fulton, Missouri where she was amember of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a customer service representative for Verizon.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Madeline Cox and her husband Oscar of Little Rock; a nephew, Dalton Jackson Cox; grandmother, Irene Hawkins; aunt, Netta Simek (John); uncle, Carroll Hawkins (Julie); a very special friend, Sally Schaffer; and two dachshunds, Murphy and Riley, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Maurine and Merritt Jackson and James H. Hawkins.

ROBERT KENT LLOYD of Little Rock, died on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Kent was born on August 7, 1965, to Jeanne Price Lloyd and Larry D. Lloyd, in El Dorado, Ark. Kent graduated from El Dorado High School in 1983 and attended SouthArkansas University in El Dorado, moving to Little Rock in 1992.

Kent was preceded in death by his father, Larry D. Lloyd, and is survived by his mother; two sisters, Lisa Jones (Paul), Hot Springs, Ark., and Lynda Delo (Jim), Shreveport, La.; six nephews, Courtney Michael (Janna) and Blake Jones (Rachael) of Little Rock; Jack Delo, Washington, D.C.; Andrew Delo, Annapolis, Md.; Martyn Delo and Derek Delo, Shreveport, La.

Kent was a kind and loving son, who had a disease called alcoholism and would eventually rob him of any chance to attain peace and joy in his life here on earth. Kent fought valiantly to overcome his illness, but finally succumbed to its terrible grip on his life. Kent had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and as his mother, I am comforted by the peace andjoy he has finally found in being in the presence of our Heavenly Father and loved ones gone before him.

A memorial service celebrating Kent’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29, at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock at 2 p.m. with Reverend Steve Hancock officiating. MATTHEW DANIEL POE, 28, of Little Rock, the eldest son ofDanny J. Poe and Jennifer Cummings-Eoff, passed away October 24, 2011. Matthew was born on September 27, 1983 and became an Eagle Scout in Troop 4 at the age of 14, graduated Mills University Studies High School, Class of 2002, and later enlisted in The United States Air Force. On September 29, 2007 he married Kristina Davidson at his childhood home. Matthew and Kristina spent six beautiful short years together. He was a faithful hardworking man who devoted his life to his family and friends. He always put others needs before his own and continued to do that throughout his life. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman whose activities and hobbies included hunting, fishing, target shooting, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his wife and dogs Sissy and Mo Mo. Matthew’s life was prosperous and filled with love and activities. He was always known as a doer and a go-getter.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Kristina Davidson-Poe; his father, Danny Poe (Cheryl); mother, Jennifer Cummings (David); brother, Jonathan Poe; and step-brother, Jonathan Manley; three uncles; three aunts; numerous extended family and friends.

JOSIAH EUGENE RUSSELL, age 81, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at his home. Born in Cabot on February 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Josiah Edward and Unabelle (Prater) Russell. Mr. Russell was a retired civil engineer and a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lucy Mae Russell and Kay Colleen Russell; sons, Michael Eugene Russell and Larry Gene Russell; brother, Ted Russell; sister, Anitia Johnson; and granddaughter, Kelly Taylor. Mr. Russell is survived by sons, Darrell Russell and his wife, Margaret, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Garry Dean Russell of South Dakota; daughter, Constance Thomas and her husband, Michael, of Yuma, Arizona; sister, Ruby Lea Nahlen of North Little Rock; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MARY LOIS WHEAT THARP, 84, of North Little Rock passedaway Wednesday, October 26, 2011. She was a registered nurse and retired from the Baptist Medical System after 30 years of service. She was a member of Sylvan Hills Community Church and the North Little Rock Woman’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Guthrie, and son, Matthew Hunter Guthrie, of Beebe, Arkansas. Marcus was a Probation and Parole Agent for the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.He was a graduate of Harding University with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He was of the Baptist faith. Matthew was the center of Marcus’ world. He loved spending time with his family. Marcus was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer, duck and turkey hunting. He was a sports enthusiast. He loved football, especially his beloved Razorbacks, and watching his nephew on Friday nights.

Marcus was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; his maternal grandmother; and his brother-in-law, James DavidAhillen. Marcus is also survived by his father, Bob Guthrie and his wife Debbie of Little Rock; his mother, Patricia Miller and her husband Phil of Little Rock; one brother, Bruce and his wife Lesley; a nephew, Mason and a niece, Madison of Searcy; one grandfather, Bully Stephenson of Georgetown; and one grandmother, Fran Miller of Little Rock; his in-laws, James Ahillen and his wife Debbie, and Jared Ahillen of Searcy; and Rebekah Ahillen of Beebe. ROMANCE - Arthel “Doc” Edward Moffitt, 87 of Romance, Ark., was born on October 7, 1924 in Joy, Ark., to the late Jesse Lee and Bessie Clay Moffitt, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 17 years Patricia J. Moffitt on August 19, 2001; his son, Ricky Moffitt; brother, Jewel Moffitt and sister, Elois Townsend. He is survived by three sons; Gary Moffitt, Johnny Moffitt and wife Jenny and Jackie Moffitt and wife Tammy, all of Romance; three step-children, Tina and Ronnie Durall of Dover; Pete Hill of Clarksville; and Lisa and Todd Birginske of Russellville. SHERIDAN - Frederick “Freddie” Stover, age 51, of Sheridan, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was born July 5, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of Kyoko Nagasaki of Osaka, Japan and the late Willie Byron Stover. Freddie graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1978, and had lived in Sheridan for more than 20 years. Freddie had worked as an electrician for many years and was currently employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He was an artist in many respects, including his electrical work and welding. Some other talents included charcoal, pen-and-ink drawing, and AutoCAD designing. He was always helping others and had a great sense of humor.

His survivors include his fiancee, Sandi Yeager of Benton; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber Wreyford Scott and Steven of Glendale; his mother, Kyoko Nagasaki; a sister, Mitchi Parent and husband Bob of Allen, Texas; a brother, Byron Stover and wife Jamie of Star City; three grandchildren, Lucy, Jacob, and Kira Scott; nephews, Ethan Stover of Star City and Rob Smith and wife Shelli of Benton, La.; a great-nephew, Brayden Smith; along with many other loving family and friends.

He was a life member and his brethren bestowed upon him the Pillar of Solomon Award with the approval of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason of the 33rd degree. He was chairman of the Kitchen Committee since the inception of the William Nash Scottish Rite in West Memphis. He was also past chairman of the Crittenden County ASC Committee, and member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Irmgard (Dot) Eubanks, daughters, Rita Callan and husband, Les of West Memphis and Charlotte Maxwell of Grenada, Miss.; grandchildren, Elizabeth McCollum, Jennifer Held, Trey Callan, Rachel Maxwell, Leah Poindexter and Clay Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Shyanne Poindexter and Callan McCollum; brother, Parker Eubanks of Proctor, Ark.; niece,Donna Kane of Proctor, Ark. and nephew, Ricky Eubanks of Proctor, Ark.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 till 11 a.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home with Brother Steve Smith officiating.
