Officers found the body in the cab of a red pickup parked in a lot off Club House Road. The road runs off Fair Park Boulevard between the golf course and the Little Rock Zoo.

Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs said the man had not been identified Thursday night and a cause of death could not immediately be determined. Hobbs said it appeared that the body had been in the vehicle for “a couple of days” and was beginning to decompose.

The body will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory for identification and to determine the cause of death, Hobbs said.Smoking man robs

Allied Bank in LR

A Little Rock bank in the Heights neighborhood was robbed Thursday morning by a man who smoked a cigarette, police said.

A teller at the Allied Bank branch at 4900 Kavanaugh Blvd. told police a man entered the bank about 10:25 a.m. and placed a silver handgun on the counter. The man told the teller not to give him any “marked money” and left the business with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The teller described the man as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. The man was between 40 and 45 years old and wore a black toboggan, black framed prescription glasses, a blue jean jacket and dark baggy pants, police said.

86 drug counts set for Sherwood man

A Sherwood man set to appear in Sherwood District Court today faces 86 drug and drug-related charges after his arrest Tuesday afternoon.

Matthew Pickens, 28, faces three counts of criminal use of prohibited weapons, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and 38 counts of felony possession of cocaine paraphernalia for personal use.

According to arrest reports, police were called to Pickens’ home at 113 Bob O Link Lane after a passerby spotted a man breaking out a window with a shovel.

The vandal was not there when police arrived, but Pickens was, and officers informed him that Saline County had an arrest warrant for him. Pickens agreed to go with police.

When officers escorted him inside his home to get some shoes, police said, they found brass knuckles in his pocket, as well as some cut-up drinking straws.

Police reports said a search of the house found at least 38 drinking straws which had been altered for cocaine use, a firearm and an undisclosed amount of cocaine and other narcotics.

Sherwood police said they are still investigating and that more arrests could be possible.

Pickens was also charged with felony possession of narcotics with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug residence and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was being held Thursday night in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
