LITTLE ROCK — Suicide is the suspected manner of death for a man whose body was found Thursday in a stolen pickup parked near War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
Police say the body of Gordon Fiechtner, 39, was found inside a 2000 Chevy Silverado parked near Fair Park and Zoo Drive. A caller alerted authorities around 6 p.m. that a man was unconscious inside the vehicle, which had been parked in the area for about 10 days.
Responders found Fiechtner dead inside along with a gas-powered leaf blower which had its ignition switched on, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. Officers say the vehicle had a strong odor of exhaust.
The pickup was repoted stolen out of Greer's Ferry and Fiechtner was "linked" to the vehicle as a missing person out of Jacksonville, police said.
Authorities say they believe the death to be a suicide, but autopsy results are not yet complete.
