LITTLE ROCK — CAMDEN FAIRVIEW 42, HOT SPRINGS 14
CAMDEN - Derek Keaton ran for 119 yards on 6 carries and scored 2 touchdowns as Camden Fairview (8-1, 6-0 5A-Southwest) routed Hot Springs (1-8, 1-5).
After Hot Springs fumbled at the Fairview 1, the Cardinals moved quickly down the field and Keaton scored from 20 yards out to give Fairview a 6-0 lead.
Hot Springs then got a 56-yard touchdown from Ryan Morrow to Finza Davis. Zach Knapp then added a PAT to give Hot Springs a brief 7-6 lead. But Keaton scored again on a 12-yard run later in the period and punched in a 2-point conversion as well. The Cardinals also got scores from Jerry Moorehead on a 2-yard run, and a 11-yard touchdown pass from Austin Booth to William Dever to take a 28-7 lead in the first half.
Jamie Smith added to Fairview’s lead with a 20-yard touchdown run on the home team’s first possession of the third quarter, before Dominique Reed broke a screen pass for a 49-yard score late in the period to kick in the mercy rule.
Reed caught four passes for 110 yards.
CAC 48, HOPE 3
Senior quarterback Benjamin Shields accounted for 232 all-purpose yards to lead Central Arkansas Christian (4-4-1, 3-3 5A-Southwest) over Hope (3-6, 3-3) at Mustang Mountain in North Little Rock.
Shields ran 12 times for 83 yards and 1 touchdown and completed 9 of 15 passes for 149 yards.
The Mustangs, who led 28-3 at halftime, outgained the Bobcats 355-157.
Senior tailback Eric Simmons ran 12 times for 49 yards and 2 first-half touchdowns on runs of 9 and 6 yards.
Shields opened the scoring on a 1-yard run with 8:24 left in the first quarter.
Chase Dowell gave CAC a 28-3 halftime lead when he returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown with 5:27 left in the second quarter.
In the second half, Logan Stafford scored on runs of 4 and 6 yards and Marquelle Nelson had a 5-yard touchdown run.
Hope’s only points came on a 37-yard field goal by Eric Garcia with 8:11 left in the first half.
HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE 29, ARKADELPHIA 28
HOT SPRINGS - Ajalen Holley ran 37 yards on his final carry for a touchdown and Bret Gaston’s extra point with 2:34 remaining led Hot Springs Lakeside past Arkadelphia.
Lakeside (8-1, 5-1) clinched the 5ASouthwest’s No. 2 seed with the victory.
Quarterback Garrett Rucker ran 5 yards with 3:27 left to regain the lead for Arkadelphia (4-5, 4-2), which had led 13-0 at halftime but trailed 22-13 in the third quarter.
Garrett Garner’s 52-yard touchdown run less than a minute into the second half and Blakely Lawless’ 15-yarder gave Arkadelphia 14-13 lead.
Garner totaled a career-high 130 yards on 17 carries.
Arkadelphia pulled within 22-20 on Rucker’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Conner Bryan. Rucker finished 14 of 30 passing for 187 yards. Rucker’s last pass was intercepted by Tanner Dvorak.
LITTLE ROCK CHRISTIAN 34, MAGNOLIA 19
MAGNOLIA - Senior quarterback Josh Alberius threw three touchdown passes, including two to Daniel Williams, as Little Rock Christian rallied to beat Magnolia.
The Warriors trailed 19-14 early in the third quarter before Alberius threw a 60-yard go-ahead touchdown pass to Williams. Little Rock Christian then pulled away with interception returns for touchdowns by Josh Simpson and Connor Vaughan.
Alberius threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Michael Kamarunas and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Williams in the first half.
Little Rock Christian led 14-13 at halftime.
