Earnings report

— Companies reporting quarterly earnings Friday included:

Cigna Corp., the health insurer, a profit of $200 million, or 74 cents a share, down from $307 million, or $1.13 a share, a year ago. Revenue climbed nearly 7 percent to $5.61 billion. Shares fell 14 cents to close at $46.63.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., a profit of $161 million, or 60 cents a share, up from a loss of $20 million, or 8 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $6.1 billion. Shares rose 56 cents to close at $14.84.

Chevron Corp., the second largest U.S. oil company, a profit of $7.83 billion, or $3.92 a share, up from $3.77 billion, or $1.87 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 26 percent to $61.3 billion. Shares rose 38 cents to close at $109.64.

Merck & Co., the drug maker, a profit of $1.69 billion, or 55 cents a share, up from $342 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 8 percent to $12.02 billion. Shares rose 80 cents to close at $35.11.
