Quachita State Park trail gets tornado repair

— Workers from AmeriCorps will help repair at trail at Lake Ouachita State Park that was shredded by a tornado earlier this year.

The Sentinel-Record reported Saturday that the 4.5-mile Caddo Bend Trail remains closed because of the extensive damaged it sustained.

Park interpreter Susan Adkins says the trail is the premier trail in the park and the plan is to reopen it by spring.

Adkins says there are places where felled trees are piled 20 feet high and others where the trail has been completely wiped out.

Other park facilities and trails are open. The colder months are popular with visitors who turn out to watch eagles along the lake.
