Harding men tie OBU, headed to postseason

Junior Ryan Wilhelm scored Harding’s only goal in a 1-1 tie with Ouachita Baptist on Friday in Arkadelphia.

Harding (6-10-2) and Ouachita Baptist both ended Great American Conference play with a 1-3-1 record, but the Bisons earned the tournament-clinching tiebreaker point and the fourth seed because they shut out Delta State last week.

Rizvan Ceka scored the lone goal for Ouachita Baptist in the 58th minute.

ASU women blank UALR

Arkansas State scored two goals in the first 12 minutes on the way to a 4-0 shutout victory over UALR on Friday in Jonesboro.

Senior Lyndsey Patterson scored goals for Arkansas State (7-9-3, 5-5-1 Sun Belt Conference) in the first half to give the Red Wolves a 3-0 halftime lead. Jena Kelley scored the first ASU goal and Michele Clark added the fourth goal in the 83rd minute.

ASU outshot UALR 17-15, but the Trojans held a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.

OBU women earn victory

Ouachita Baptist got two goals in the first half and beat Harding 3-0 on Friday in Arkadelphia.

Mary Whisenhunt scored first for Ouachita Baptist with a goal in the 31st minute. Allison Drobena added the second goal with 16 seconds left in the first half. Miranda Lytle scored the third goal for OBU in the 56th minute.

Adriana Lucar led Harding (4-12-1, 0-6) with two shots, both on goal, and goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka had 12 saves.

Arkansas men lead, UALR moves

The Arkansas men’s team continues to lead after Friday’s second round of the Cabo Collegiate in Baja California, Mexico, while the UALR men moved up one spot to ninth.

Arkansas shot a second round 276, giving the Razorbacks an 18-stroke lead over Southeastern Louisiana going into today’s final round. UALR shot 299 on Friday and is ahead of Gonzaga, UC Irvine and Cincinnati.

Arkansas’ Sebastian Cappelen shot a second consecutive 68 to take the lead in the individual standings at 6-under par. He has a two shot lead over San Francisco’s Ji Hwan Park. UALR’s Hunter Smith (72-76-148) is tied for 25th place at 6-over, while Alfred Kerstis (76-73-149) is one shot back and Nicklaus Benton (78-73-151) is at 9-over.
