Beebe Badgers

Conference: 5A-East

Coach: Ryan Marshall (one year, 20-7 career record)

Last year’s record: 20-7, 10-4 in conference.

Assistant coach: Matt O’Connor

Returning starters: Dayton Scott (senior, 6-3), 13 points per game, all-state; Brandon Fuller (senior, 6-1), 6 ppg; Zack May (6-1), 8 ppg; Braden Jones (senior, 6-2), 6 ppg; Austin Burroughs (junior, 6-4); and Jake Schlenker (junior, 6-0).

Match or exceed from last year: “We had a great year last year with the school’s first 20-win season since 1982-83, along with being Battle at the Brier champs and Beebe Holiday Tournament champs,” Marshall said. “We want to continue with that success and compete for conference championship and state tournament berth.”

Team strengths: “Experience. We have six kids returning that started and played considerable minutes last season,” he said.

Team weaknesses: Free-throw shooting and depth, Marshall said.

Toughest opponents: “Sylvan Hills on Nov. 29, and our league is very tough overall,” he said.

College prospects: Dayton Scott: “He’s a big-time athlete who can defend well and is relentless on the boards. Brandon Fuller: “A good, strong point guard who defends well and leads a team along with a 3.2 gpa.” Zack May: “He’s a strong guard who can score and shoot the 3.” Austin Burroughs: “He’s a 6-4 guard/forward who is still growing and the best all-around player on the team. He can shoot the 3 and has a knack for scoring around the basket,” Marshall said.
