Communicators honor ex-editor, advertising exec

— Phyllis Brandon, the longtime editor of the High Profile section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and advertising legend Ron Robinson were honored Oct. 20 by their peers.

The pair received the top honors at the Bronze Quill Awards, an annual event sponsored by the Arkansas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Brandon, who retired as High Profile editor in 2009 after serving 23 years as editor, was presented with the Communicator of the Year award. She was recognized for her journalism work dating to her coverage of the 1957 crisis at Central High School. She retired in July as editor of Arkansas Life magazine.

Robinson was given the John K. Woodruff Award for Lifetime Achievement for recognition of his decades of work at Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods advertising agency as well as his work with many boards, commissions and political candidates. He is chairman emeritus at CJRW.

The event, whichincluded a silent auction and cocktail hour, was held at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for MedicalSciences. Communicators President Harper Grubbs served as master of ceremonies.
