Driver ordered to get mental exam

— A homeless man charged with three counts of attempted capital murder after being accused of trying to run over Berryville police officers with his vehicle will receive a mental evaluation, David Phillips, a Carroll County deputy prosecuting attorney, said Friday.

George Brooks, 53, is also charged with residential burglary, criminal mischief and theft.

He appeared Friday afternoon before Circuit Judge Gerald Crow in Berryville. No future court date has been set.

Brooks was being held Friday night in the Carroll County jail in lieu of $300,000 bond, Phillips said.
