Harding University nursing faculty receive national certification recognition

— Seven members of Harding University’s nursing faculty have been certified by the National League of Nursing as Certified Nursing Educators to serve as leaders and role models in their field.

Harding’s CNE-credentialed faculty include Jeanie Burt, Johnnetta Kelly, Cheryl Lee, Lisa Engel, Juli Lane and Jackie Harris. Cathleen Shultz, dean of the Carr College of Nursing and former president of the NLN, was among the first group of credentialed CNEs and was recently recertified.

“The Carr College of Nursing faculty who are certified have demonstrated meeting the national nurse educator competencies,” Shultz said.

“The preparation and tests are difficult. The faculty have developed a collegial culture of engagement and faculty development. I’m pleased that each one has pursued and attained this notable recognition.”

In addition to being certified, Burt was selected for the league’s Certified Nursing Educators test-development committee, and Kelly was appointed as a member of the league’s CNE Commissioner group through 2013.
