Mount Vernon- Enola Warhawks

Conference: 1A-5 North

Coach: Justin Rodgers (12th sesason at Mount Vernon-Enola)

Assistant coach: Freeman Isaacs

Last year’s record: 18-12 (Regular season conference and district tournament runner-up; eliminated in the first round of the region tournament.)

Returning starters: Adam Caudill, a sophomore point guard, is the only returning starter for the Warhawks.

Best inside players: Coach Rodgers said senior Jacob Porter and junior Blake Keathley will have to carry the load in the paint for his squad to be successful.

Best perimeter players: Senior Josh West and sophomore Bailey Patrom were the top prospects during preseason practices, Rodgers said.

How will you match/exceed/fall short of your success from last year? Though he didn’t elaborate on what his team needs to do to exceed last year’s 18-12 record and early postseason departure, Rodgers did say “I would like to get back to the state tournament.”

Strengths of the team: Rodgers said his team’s work and effort has caught his attention.

Weakness of the team: With only one returning starter, who happens to be a sophomore, Rodgers is most concerned about his team’s lack of experience.

Games to watch: Guy-Perkins and Rose Bud

Toughest opponents: Concord, Shirley and Bevins

College prospects: “Adam Caudill really will be a great player before he’s done,” Rodgers said.
