LITTLE ROCK — Authorities in Saline County collected more than 500 pounds of prescription drugs during an event Saturday aimed at collecting unused medicine.
In all, officers with departments in Benton, Haskell and Saline County collected 537 pounds of prescription drugs during Operation Medicine Cabinet IV.
Authorities schedule the drug takeback events to keep the drugs out of the hands of abusers and to make sure they are disposed of safely.
Since the first such event two years ago in Benton, police there have collected a combined 1,617 pounds of prescription drugs.
