— 1 DIP The first World Cheese Dip Championship at North Little Rock’s Dickey-Stephens Park was so successful that they ran out of dip before they ran out of crowd. The Southern Cheese Dip Academy has moved the second annual World Cheese Dip Championship, 1-7:30 p.m. Saturday, to AT&T Field at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium, West Markham Street and Fair Park Boulevard. Teams from around the country will be competing for cash prizes and trophies in amateur and professional divisions, as well as for People’s Choice Awards from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Sync.

Also on tap: local musicians and children’s activities. You can watch the Arkansas/Alabama football game (live from Tuscaloosa) on the stadium Jumbotron. Local celebrities will chow down in a halftime cheese dip eating contest. Admission: $10 for adults, free for children 10 and under; proceeds benefit the nonprofit Harmony Health Clinic. Friday night’s show honors students and volunteers at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service (one of the sponsors). The William F. 9 DRIFT ... Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport is hosting colorful hot air balloons from all over the country and some musical favorites. The annual Arkansas Legends Balloon Rally lifts off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with fly-outs, races and balloon glows through the evening and (as conditions allow) all day Saturday.

Saturday’s activities will also include a car show at noon and a tailgate-and-watch party for the Razorbacks game, which starts at 2:30 p.m. Concessions will be available but no ice chests are allowed.
