— Cheers in Maumelle, 1901 Club Manor Drive, Maumelle, has remodeled and expanded its bar and private dining room, and has also reopened Sundays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (with a new bar menu from 3-6 p.m. so you can watch football via satellite on the new LED TVs). The restaurant had been open briefly last year for Sunday brunch. Current hours during the rest of the week: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday (with a 4:30-6:30 p.m. weekday happy hour), 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is (501) 851-6200.

The first 100 Pie Day at the end of August at Hunka Pie, 7706 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, was so successful that owner Chris Monroe is promising another one Oct. 30, “and this time we are including cheesecakes!” The restaurant phone number: (501) 224-1104.

Recently opened: Pitza 42 Pita Pizzas & Salads, 2335 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, serving personal-size pita pizzas (“pitzas”) and salads, with a mission as well as a menu: “Provide great food for our neighbors and feed hungry children around the world.” Their Meal 4 Meal program donates “one meal to a child on the brink of starvation for every meal they sell in the restaurant.”

In case you missed the story in Tuesday’s paper, Fordyce’s famous Klappenbach Bakery, 108 W. Fourth St., will close for good Saturday. The owners, Lee Klappenbach, 77, and Norm Klappenbach, 80, are retiring, and their son, Paul, 47, has been working 65-hour weeks and is getting out the business. The bakery, which had been in operation since 1975 and drawn customers from all over the region, added a sandwich shop in 1988; it reopened to much fanfare after a June 2009 fire.
