OREM, Utah — Oregon police say the parents of a 1-year-old boy who drowned in a washing machine will likely not face charges.
Hillsboro, Ore., police spokesman Michael Rouches says the death of 21-month-old Ollie Hebb appears accidental.
Tiffany Hebb told The Deseret News that her son used to help her with the laundry by throwing clothes into the top-loading washer. She says Ollie went missing for a few minutes on March 23, and she found him wedged inside the water-filled machine.
Rouches says police will forward the case to a district attorney.
The boy died after a day on life support. His organs were donated.
The couple had recently moved from Orem, Utah, to the Portland suburb. The newspaper reports the boy was buried over the weekend in Utah.
